The oldest streets in the city as your base: walk to almost everything, and take the noise as part of the rent.

The area

Staying in the Quarter means the trip happens outside your door: Jackson Square, the riverfront, the French Market and most of the famous rooms are a short walk, and the streets themselves are the attraction. The trade is honest. It is the busiest, loudest and priciest ground in the city, and nobody bases here for an early night.

Getting around

Almost everything in the Quarter itself is walkable, and the CBD starts across Canal Street. Bourbon Street runs loud late, so a room a street or two back, or one facing a courtyard, sleeps better than a balcony over the strip. The Fair Grounds sit in Mid-City, a short drive or taxi ride north, and the Canal streetcar runs from the riverfront end of the Quarter out toward City Park and the cemeteries.

Names to know

Long-established hotels in this area, checked on their own official sites. We do not rank them and we state no prices. Where Trip.com sells the property, the card carries a Check availability button to that hotel's page there; a card with no button is one Trip.com does not sell, and it carries no link at all.
