The date is fixed by the liturgical calendar: Mardi Gras is the day before Ash Wednesday and 47 days before Easter Sunday, which falls on March 28, 2027, placing Fat Tuesday on February 9, 2027 and Ash Wednesday on February 10, 2027. New Orleans and Company publishes February 9, 2027 as Mardi Gras Day in its Mardi Gras guide and its future Mardi Gras dates list. The record is marked expected because the City of New Orleans had not yet published its own final 2027 Mardi Gras page and parade times at verification. Note: this corrects the February 16 date in the commissioning brief, which does not match the 2027 liturgical calendar.
