About this place

The market runs from Café du Monde down to the flea market sheds near Esplanade Avenue, and it has been trading in some form since 1791. The farmers market end is the one to eat through, with Creole and Cajun food stands among the produce stalls; the flea market is better for souvenirs than for treasure. Go hungry and treat it as a slow breakfast that turns into a wander.
