About this place
The Cabildo was the seat of Spanish government in Louisiana, and the room where the Louisiana Purchase transfer was completed in 1803 is upstairs. Three floors of exhibitions work through the whole Louisiana story, from Native nations and colonisation to the Battle of New Orleans, with the objects to prove it. It rewards older children and anyone who likes their history with the documents on the wall.
