About this place
Start here and the city explains itself. The square faces the Mississippi across Decatur Street, with St. Louis Cathedral behind you, the Pontalba Buildings along both sides and a working crowd of painters, tarot readers and buskers around the fence. Come early for the quiet version, or at dusk when the light goes gold on the cathedral.
