About this place

The Garden District was built by nineteenth-century money showing itself the door, and the way to read it is slowly, from the St. Charles streetcar, which has been running this route since 1835. Hop off around Washington Avenue for the grid of Greek Revival and Italianate houses, Lafayette Cemetery at the edge of the neighbourhood, and lunch on Magazine Street. The houses are private homes, so the sightseeing is from the sidewalk, and that is plenty.
